Drofdarb’s LAS Helmet Evolution & Brawl In McCall Recap
A few weeks ago I got an invite to play at the Brawl in McCall with Team LAS which obviously wasn’t an opportunity I could pass up. After getting the invite I thought, “hmmm… maybe I need a new Lacrosse All Stars themed helmet for the tourney?” and sure enough I found a color combination I HAD to have. From there I came up with some different ideas for helmet stickers and then searched all over the Internet to find them. Anyway, here’s the evolution of my LAS themed CPX-R that I used this weekend in McCall:
I still need to add a couple GTG Stickers and I’m thinking blue and red stars down top in between the vents. I’m pretty happy with the way it looks so we’ll see.
Team LAS Brawl Recap:
Prior to the tournament, Team LAS had extremely limited playing time together as the roster was filled out with ballers from all over the Northwest. We opened with two of the better teams in the tournament on Saturday – Issaquah and Bainbridge – and our lack of experience together was evident. We lost both games – 9-4 to Issaquah and 10-5 to Bainbridge – but we kept them pretty competitive. Sunday was a different story as Team LAS was finally playing together with confidence en route to beating the short-handed Palo Alto Ducks 15-4. The second game of the day was against the tournament favorite Scallywags and it turned out being the best game of the weekend. I’m not sure if the Scallywags were looking ahead to the championship game or still recuperating from late-night pirate shenanigans, but LAS gave them a run for their money in a physical, hard fought game. The score was tied 5-5 late in the second half before the Scallywags took the lead back sending LAS home with an 8-5 loss.
Despite finishing with a 1-3 record, the tournament was awesome. I got to meet and play with a great group of guys on Team LAS – Dan Crawforth is absolutely ridiculous and makes playing defense look way too easy, Joe Eck has come a long way from his days as a U-15 on Team Idaho and Jonny Bongiorno is quite the character to name a few. With some playing experience together under our belts, LAS has the potential to make some noise in the tournament next year.

- Congrats to the Scallywags on winning their 4th Brawl in a row defeating Bainbridge Island 8-0 in the final. I don’t care who you are, that’s an impressive score for a final.
- A huge thanks to Jeff Brunelle and Lacrosse All Stars for putting a great team together. I can’t wait for next year!
