Humpday’s Happenings & Hyperlinks 1/5/11
Each Wednesday I’m going to share links to good articles/columns from recent happenings – with added insights and musings – from around the sporting world. If you come across good articles, videos, etc. – please pass them along, I’d love to take a look.
College Football:

This is news from last week but Heisman Trophy Finalist LaMichael James announced his intentions to return to Eugene next year for his junior season. This is great news for Duck fans but bad news for the rest of the soon to be Pac-12.
A couple national college football writers were having a debate about college football helmet logos last week and somebody passed a link to The Helmet Project to Andy Staples who shared it on twitter. The site has just about every helmet variation for every college football team in the country.
TCU didn’t win the national championship but their Rose Bowl victory was just as good. Horned Frog fans will enjoy this Rose Bowl highlight video:
Surfing:
If you want to surf like 10-time world champion Kelly Slater – who was recently honored by the Lakers – Surfer Magazine has a step-by-step guide to surfing exactly like him. Even if you don’t want to take your surf skills to Slater’s level or if you can’t surf because of your location Slater’s guide is an interesting read.
National Hockey League:
St. Louis Blues winger Cam Janssen and Dallas Stars winger Krys Barch have a history of confrontation and they continued the brawling on Sunday with this beauty:
U.S. Soccer:
SI.com provided an update on how American soccer players are performing for their clubs in Europe. It’s exciting to see so many Americans improving their game and playing soccer abroad.
National Basketball Association:
If you didn’t see Tyreke Evans’ half court game winner against the Grizzlies here you go:
Video Games:
For all the gamers out there – self included – Augusta National will be featured and playable in “Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters.” The game will be available March 29th for Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation3. LI haven’t purchased or played the TW series for a few years but it looks like EA Sports might have sucked me back in…
Any good stories/articles I missed?
Have a Happy Humpday Everyone!
